Riding West into the Sunset

A lazy morning by the pool and time to say goodbye to those who were leaving today. This afternoon I joined two others for an amazing desert experience. I decided that I can’t walk into the desert and I’m not going on a camel so the only way to experience it was by Quad Bike! That’s something I’ve wanted to do for years but have never tried.

There were only the three of us on the trip plus two guides and we were collected by sand buggy. Five minutes from the beach on the quad bikes we were entering the desert along a track and over some hills. We stopped at a well then drove over a hill onto open sand where we were given time just to have fun on a nice flat area.

Back behind our guide and round more hills and through narrow gaps we stopped at a large tree for photos and a bit of a scramble up through the rocks. The peace when we were still was amazing and the echo when we all shouted together reverberated around us for ages. Round and over some more hills we stopped again and this time climbed to the top to see the view – top right picture, you can see our bikes down below.

We then rode West into the setting sun. The scenery and the light was stunning, especially seen through the sand storm created by the bikes in front. Our final stop was at a Bedouin tent. Absolutely fabulous trip!!!
