Meeting Day

John and I met 43 years ago today on a street corner in Stockholm. He was touring Europe on a motorcycle, I was walking to my first English class.
After stopping to let me cross, he said: "Do you speak any English ?" I didn't, really, nor did I know of his kindness then, or his delightful sense of humor, but I was captured by the cool bike, and answered: "Yes, a little..." We've been together since then and celebrate every year! Today we went on an excursion up Columbia River to The Dalles and then across into Washington. The picture is from Conboy Lake, a wildlife refuge along the way. A good day it was!
