Blue Sky

Blue sky shining on me
Nothing but blue sky do I see

Willie Nelson

It was misty this morning and everything looked grey. Rain was forecast so we decided to go to Pau. It's about 25 miles in the opposite direction to the mountains so we thought we might just escape the clouds. It obviously wasn't far enough because when we got there it rained. Fortunately it was lunchtime so we escaped to a small restaurant in the town and had lunch. By the time we'd finished it was much brighter and we were able to walk around the Chateau which was the birthplace of Henry IV of France. It's just being restored and almost looks like it could have been built last week.
By the time we were ready to return the sun had come out and we saw the first patches of blue sky of the day. I took this shot in Betharram on the way back. There are famous caves here which we will definitely investigate if we come back to this area again.
I was trying to catch the turquoise colour of the river as I've been talking about it all week but here it's reflecting the sky and looks more blue than turquoise. Perfect for the blip topic.
We're leaving here tomorrow to go to Uzes. A town near Avignon. It will be sad to say goodbye to the mountains but I think we'll be back.
