Stuff & Things

A stranger

Another lazy morning before M and I headed out to find a space housing a new piece of work by a local artist.

We navigated ourself to Garage and Repairs District, it's very close to Mannequin District. I like this about the city, that areas are themed by trading types. The apartment lies between the Musical Instrument and Lighting Districts.

We found the unused garage, eventually, and viewed the work, which we liked. We then decided to walk back to Tunel via a different way to avoid the steep hill climb.

No sooner had we started than we were greeted by a random stranger who was keen to show us his 'hood.

It was hard to figure out from his east London accent and tales of LA and NY but Jamie was actually Turkish. He was a bit like a cross between George Michael and Louie Spence with the same kind of hyper energy.

He was delighted to find tourists in the area and keen to tell us all about the history and the gentrification of the area and how it was a great time to have bought there. Yet he also supports the protests which are against relentless development. People want their areas to be better and that doesn't mean office blocks and shopping malls.

From stranger to familiar, I head back to the main drag to meet some Glaswegians on a Terrace.

It's a strange world.
