Museum of Appalachia - The Blacksmith's Shop

We visited the Museum of Appalachia today at Clinton, Tennessee.

It's a marvelous place, and well worth the visit.

The Blacksmith and wheelwright shop represent two of the most important pioneer industries. The blacksmith shop, in which wooden bellows are used for firing the forge, features a large assortment of tools used in a typical shop of this region.

The center portion of the building houses the wheelwright shop - one of the most complete in the country.

The genial looking fellow on the front stoop is our host in Knoxville, who very kindly drove us to this wonderful open air place.
