Oktoberfest #2: Big wheel

Today was the first full day of Oktoberfest, with tents opening at 9a.m. to serve the thirsty masses. The first Sunday furthermore is the day of the traditional Costume and Riflemens' Parade.

What was more important today, though, is, that we were called to the ballot box to elect a new German federal parliament (which in turn elects the German chancellor). The tallying of the votes is still going on (and probably will take all night), but the projections suggest, that Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative party CDU/CSU has won almost 50% of the seats of the German Bundestag. As the liberal party FDP hasn't obtained the minimal threshold vote of 5%, Mrs. Merkel has to form a new coalition with either the Social Democratic Party SPD or the Green party.

The blip shows some of the most popular fun rides of the Oktoberfest: Skyfall, a freefall tower, the Alpinabahn roller coaster, and the traditional Big Wheel.
