Afternoon Bath Time

The sun came out yesterday afternoon, so we left early for a drive to Healdsburg, where we checked out a new place called "the Shed"--coffee bar, wine and beer bar, random garden and kitchen tools and "decor items"--all tastefully arranged and very expensive. One of Marcia's potter friends had some beautifully designed nesting bowls, which we both admired, but realized we had no room for in either of our kitchens. We sat out in front sipping a very nice rose and watching the world go by until it was time to meet Jerry and Mary at the restaurant down the street called Zin!

We did pick up right where we left off twelve years ago in the Canadian Rockies--laughing, reminiscing, and enjoying a wonderful dinner. Perhaps the highlight of the meal was the double order of french fried green beans which came in paper cones with some dill aioli on the side.

We got off to a slow start this morning , lounging around in our pajamas, watching the sun coming over the hills to highlight the turning leaves in the vineyard, drinking coffee (and discovering that the toilet is, in fact, NOT fixed) before finally getting organized for a trip to the bakery, and a walk around Spring Lake. This late in the season, the water is very shallow and warm, and therefore very green with algae. He wasn't at all happy about it but we opted to keep Ozzie out of the water, even though he carried his stick all the way around the lake in anticipation of a swim.

The goldfinches lining up for their afternoon bath keep us entertained on warm days. I am discovering that I would like to have a camera with a better telephoto lens. Perhaps I can "borrow" OilMan's Nikon....
