Almost Eight

This is probably the last photo I will have of our young neighbor Amaya as a seven year-old. She has been informing us, in perfect English, of the number of days until her eighth birthday each time she passes by our apartment. Today, the count stands at two. She has also decided, I think because we have promised presents, that she should spend a little more time with us, so this afternoon she stopped by show us her interactive, talking globe (which does not speak perfect English, or any English at all). Amaya and her two and a half year-old brother are like the grandkids we don't yet have, so it was fun to spoil her a little this afternoon. Feeding her potato chips and hearing about her life was a very nice way to spend a lazy afternoon. Birthday party Friday!
