Clean-up Success

Less than a week ago the town's main beach Playa Principal looked like this. This morning this is the view of the fishing fleet. The rest of Zihuatanejo has similarly recovered, people have been working non-stop to clean up the mess. We hear roads are still out and villages are still isolated, but one would never know such damage occurred by looking around here.

The hard work is over (the remaining junk will be gone in no time) and now everyone waits, they wait for the American and Canadian tourists to arrive. The season used to stretch from mid-October through April, but vendors and business owners have been saying it is getting shorter, beginning around Thanksgiving and ending in March. Perhaps we need another Shawshank Redemption to spur a new legion of travelers to discover Zihuatanejo.
