"Raise The Song Of Harvest Home!"

"All is safely gathered in,
Ere the winter storms begin"

The farmers have been busy and the crops are gathered. They're preparing for the next planting. I love to see a freshly ploughed field glinting in the sunshine but was interested to hear that some farmers these days  endeavour not to plough after a crop and drill straight into the stubble. No-till is an agricultural technique which increases the amount of water and organic matter (nutrients) in the soil and decreases erosion. It increases the amount and variety of life in and on the soil.

My mother is a churchgoer and she will be at Harvest Festival this Sunday. I sort of miss arranging a basket of fruit and vegetables for my grand-daughter to take in now that she is in senior school.
