Green Hills

One great byproduct of all the recent rain is the color of our surrounding hillsides. They are green with a capital "G" as seen here in this view south from the Unidad Deportiva. I would bet that a majority of visitors to Zihuatanejo, even long time vacationers who come year after year, rarely see the hills looking like this. During tourist season, the foliage takes on a brownish hue and our town looks much less verdant. During the rainy season (and our neighbors just told us this has been the rainiest September ever since they started keeping records here in Zihua) everything is green and beautiful. You can't have one without the other (green without rain), so I suspect most accept the brown hills as a tradeoff for the ever present sunshine, but it is nice to get some reward after enduring such wet weather.
