A good day for foraging.

Today was Sadie's birthday. A few years ago she had friends for a sleepover on her birthday and the following day we took her friends for a walk in the woods and ended up picking brambles. Since then Sadie's birthdays have been bramble picking time. Today we upheld that tradition. At first we thought we may have missed our chance. It seemed that they had already begun to wither but we persevered and found bushes in the shad still held nice fruit. We ended up with 3 pounds of brambles. I've boiled them up with a couple of pounds of apples we were given and the whole sticky mess is currently straining through the corner of a pillow slip in the kitchen.
