Promise of broccoli

We spent a good hour on the allotment today, harvesting stuff and doing a bit of weeding (we're going to have to up the ante on the weeding though, the far end of the allotment is not quite out-of-hand but isn't going to be a quick job). Today we harvested a couple of courgettes, quite a lot of potatoes and some spinach beet, as well as some fancy salad leaves.

Although you can't see it in this photo, the broccoli which is now going great guns is starting to show some little hearts! The lesson I've learnt from this is that starting off the broccoli in the greenhouse is probably pointless, I should just plant them out and let them get on with it. I'll look forward to these come autumn. The brussels are getting huge as well (although I haven't actually spotted any actual brussels yet, just giant leaves so far).
