Looe re-visited

As it was mine & Jules' 1 year anniversary last thursday I decided to treat him and me to some day tickets to the Looe Festival.

Jules was working this morning so by the time he got home, showered and changed and we had driven all the way to Looe, it was 1pm.

We decided to get our wrist bands then find somewhere to eat lunch so that we could plan our assault on the day. There were tonnes of places to eat, and finally after a quick tour of the place, we settled on a pub called The Swan who had a steak special for only £6.95. It wasn't anything special, but for seven quid you can't really moan.

Whilst we were waiting for our food, we looked up some of the bands and marked on the planner which ones we really wanted to see.

We started off going to the Blue banana stage where we saw a talented young man from Lanner named Gareth Lee. We were both that impressed with him and his band that I bought his EP. 2 members of his band Annie & Chris, we have seen them playing with other talented local bands, so I knew they wouldn't disappoint and they didn't.

I did spend most of his set trying to figure out who he reminded me of..... then it came to me... Capt James T Kirk (Chris Pine). You'll have to look up this guy and see if you agree.

After this we went for a wander and caught bits of the sets for Jessica Sweetman, Empire of Fools and Hold the Sun. None of which were to my particular taste but the rest of the crowd enjoyed what they were doing.

We then watched Ryan Jones' band Kola. I've seen Kola play previously in The Castle when we had them there for the St Ives September Festival. Annie from Gareth Lee's band also plays in Kola. As i previously had bought Kola's EP, I knew most of the songs played and sang along at the top of my voice.

Whilst they were playing, a number of their musical buddies came to watch which included Harry Harding who has played with a number of local bands including Kola. He was also joined by the legend that is Ruarri Joseph who was stood right next to us!!

After the music we fed our faces again and headed down to the beach to listen to the end if Sham 69 and Kirsty Robinson. We didn't stay long here as we decided that caffeine was needed, so we headed back into town to find coffee and cake and a cream tea... Yummie!!

We had planned to go back to the Blue Banana stage but the guy in the coffee shop advised us to head back to the beach as last year they stopped people going in because it was too busy.

Back on the beach and we caught part of the set from The Damned before we headed into the Alive Studios stage to take our places for Ruarri Joseph. We managed to stand right at the front and sang along with every well penned tune. Yes, I know I go on a lot about this dude, but he is good!! We both agreed that this set was that good that it warranted paying the 30 quid ticket price just to see him!

We then headed back to the main stage to see The Darkness rock the show followed by fireworks over the sea.

We had planned to catch Chas & Dave back on the Blue banana stage at the end if the night but everyone had the same idea and it was near impossible to get in. We had a quick listen from outside and then decided to head back to the car as we were both knackered after such a long but enjoyable day.

Happy anniversary baby. Hope you enjoyed it x
