A fabulous day!

Helle and I had a fabulous day today.

Our Dutch friend Brigitte came at 10ish and we followed her to a beach about 30 mins drive from our hotel. Our dogs (7 in all) had the best walk/run and it was wonderful to see them run and play (top picture).

We were back in the hotel at 2ish and at 3ish another Dutch friend Esther and Sini from Finland came and we took the train to the center of Amsterdam for some sightseeing.

We started at Madam Tussauds, which was brilliant. We really had a great time. The bottom right picture is me posing with Mona Lisa and the left one is me having a cup of coffee with George Cloony!

Next stop was the Amsterdam dungeons. Oh it was scary - but so so so good. Live actors took us through the most horrible bits of Dutch history. I was put in a cage in a torture chamber! Yiks! Glad I got away ok!

After a pizza break, we continued to Anne Frank's house. An experience that was very different from the two first sights we had seen. Awful and at the same time so moving. A tribute to life really.

We went back to our hotel, where Esther and Sini had to agree... yes, our hotel room does look like a prison cell. We have learned to live with it though... and after having seen Anne Frank's house, it does no longer seem like a big deal.

See you tomorrow.
