Woven stone

#backblip

Another full day in the National Park de Hoge Veluwe and the Kroller-Müller Museum. We concentrated most of our visit walking around the museum's excellent sculpture park because we normally only see the works nearest to the museum building.

Difficult choice to pick out one photo from today for a blip: I could have chosen the Stinkhorn fungus (Phallus impudicus) which was the first I'd ever seen. Or I could have chosen the hoards of photographers lined up along the road in the evening hoping to catch sight of stagly doings with the rutting season in full swing (when you see a great wildlife shot, you never think that there might have been dozens of other 800mm* men clacking away alongside). *Ooh, lens envy.

It was New Zealand artist Chris Booth's monumental 'woven stone' piece, Echo van de Hoge Veluwe which was our best discovery. I've chosen a shot with Mrs miketoons in the frame to give some sense of the weight of the work.
