Kapa Haka

I had a very busy time at a special event here in Blenheim tonight. We have a large modern complex which houses the “Clubs of Marlborough” The combined clubs comprise the former Marlborough Club, The Returned Servicemen’s’ Association (RSA) and the former Blenheim Working Men’s Club. It is 125 years since the formation of the Blenheim Working Men’s’ Club and tonight they had a special function to launch a book about their organisation. I was there as the official photographer. (Unpaid.) It was great fun capturing memories for the Clubs on such a memorable occasion.
The “Kapa Haka”group from Bohally Intermediate School performed several cultural numbers, traditional songs, dances and the Haka. I captured heaps of images. I have chosen today’s image not because it is brilliant photography (It is not) …but because, for me, it captures the energy and passion that these young people were putting into their cultural display…their final Haka.
