Orange

14.0C with rain most of the day. Windy.

Maeve the Deerhound and I were lucky to get a dry spell after lunch so we took advantage and walked down the road to the shore. We went across the road bridge over the railway line and then along past the cottages to the Fishermen's huts. We wandered about looking for another colour and found a few things. I have chosen the bright orange today in an optimistic hope that the weather will improve tomorrow.

On our way back along the private road at the cottages we stopped to chat to the man who lives in the end cottage. He had been down at the bottom of his garden checking that the tide wasn't reaching the fence at the beach end of his garden. It wasn't far away. The wind was driving the waves right into the beach and at the car park I could see lots of seaweed and sand piled up by the tide then cut away again as the waves receded.

The wind is full of salt. My glasses were in need of a clean when I came back from our walk, and the windows of our house have a layer of salt on them too.
