Berber water sellers- Casablanca

Expected Casablanca to be a bit like Havana - a city of faded glory now becoming industrialised.
Nothing of the sort. It's a modern city .

Ricks bar made famous by the film Casablanca existed in Hollywood imtil ten years ago when an American woman reconstructed it in Casablanca.

We arrived at out hotel just before midnight and at 9 am we were boarding our mini bus except we were late and were greeted with a frosty silence by our new travel companions.
Anyway we were still early for our slot into the Hassan 2 mosque , biggest outside Saudi in 1993, third largest in the world catering for 25,000 inside and 85,000 outside.
Yes it's impressive and very beautiful .

We had lunch in an area of the city on the coast known as Hollywood and the first building I see is a modern Obesity Clinic .
Wealth and poverty are very close . Yes there are street beggars and
this makes one feel very uncomfortable when only yards away are extravagant displays of wealth .

The city is like one huge building site of 5 million people as it races into the 21 century . I have better Internet access here in my hotel bedroom than at home in Scotland.
