Salisbury Fringe! Day Two...

Following on from yesterday's Blip, here is real-life couple Joe Bossano and Sara Taylor, in 'The Girl with the Blue Hair'.

This was Bootleg Theatre's first presentation at the beautiful medieval banqueting hall (all crooked beams and oak panelling) that is now The Boston Tea Party's coffee house. It was packed out again and unlike last evening's, where extra studio lights were brought in, this was all lit by the overhead lighting that the actual cafe uses.

There were more readings and recitals at the Old Mill, where yesterday's Blip was taken and one from there was most definitely going to be the Blip today. However, the chemistry here between the couple - yes, it is Sara, from yesterday, again - and the sheer theatricality of the moment, as they ponder their fate in the script was indescribably moving - and poignant. You would just add heaps of violins to the film-score, at this point wouldn't you??

The lovely early evening blue light is coming from outside, through the medieval window, so romantic! Both the actors, the director and the organisers and several others just loved this image when I showed it to them on the camera screen.

Since then, it has been tidied up, cropped slightly, added contrast and cloning out of a couple of distracting highlights. Note the incredibly small depth of field - only Joe is in focus - but what sharp focus! This Nikkor G 85mm f1.8 is a true delight to use!

Taking pics whilst the performance is on-going is not usual and puts huge pressure as to be as unobtrusive as possible, both sonically and not getting in the way of people. Audience members and pillars often got in my way, but the performance is for the public (the entire weekend was FREE!), not for the photographer so I had to make do, as best I could. An abandoned tripod (set up for video that no-one actually did!) often managed to get in my frame, which was really quite annoying.

So, now that it is all over - the actors all need to get their images, mostly through Facebook and email, Salisbury Journal need a few (a deadline there) and then the big edit will start tomorrow. These will be for publicity for next year's event etc.

Am so tired, that I can barely type (at least correctly) and now food is paramount and some chillaxing. It will be back to Blip duties tomorrow now, I'm sure that you'll all bear with me!
