Pinot Gris in Bud

It was dark and gloomy when the dogs and I set out for our walk this morning. Rain and even snow at upper levels was predicted for today. A cold southeast wind blew up and it began to rain before we returned to the vehicle.
All around the district the grapevines are bursting into bud. Leaves are appearing on the canes and with their delicate green colouring it all looks fresh and new. We will be concerned about the weather over the next few days. We don’t mind some decent amounts of rain but snow on the mountain tops can be a worry. This is because if there is a spell of clear weather after this current lot of rain then there is a danger of frosts. And frosts are to be feared by grape growers at this time of the year.
I photographed part of the Meadowbank Vineyard this morning. The Pinot Gris grapes there are well into bud-burst. The distant Richmond Range was shrouded in rain clouds. It was quite a moody scene and that moodiness has been accentuated by the use of an enhancing filter. Thank you Nik!
