Horse Chestnut and Sycamore

Although we have experienced a wonderful mild Indian summer, the leaves on the turn are a reminder that our planet is inexorably tilting away from the sun in the northern hemisphere and winter is approaching.

However the autumn colours are a joy. These pictures were taken on the Alderstone Path in the town of Livingston, allowing me to walk in pleasant surroundings from the North station to the Howden Centre (40 minutes away). It followed landscaped and wooded areas, and bridged over main roads or had underpasses. This well-signposted, off-road path made the walk a great pleasure. What an asset this local network of tarmaced and lit paths must be for the residents.
