Vegetarian Festival

For ten days many Thai people are eating vegetarian. Yellow flags like these are all over the market, food stands, and restaurants, announcing that they are serving vegetarian food. My friends explain that the festival comes from the Chinese side of Thai culture, however, my friend in China says there's no vegetarian festival there now. Something got lost in tradition. Either way, it's a big deal all over Thailand every year. Most people who participate are Buddhists who are doing so to cleanse their body and make merit.
