Back at the Market!

This is the lovely Shindouk, from Timbuktu, Mali ~ seen here last year in his full traditional custom. He was the chief of his village until a few years ago, when they had to leave and now he waits for the warring to end so that perhaps he and his family (she's from Cape Breton!) can return. However, despite what must be such a difficult situation, each week he greets me (and others), with his strong voice, in his native language....i have no idea how to write it out....but it always feel so amazing! This week however, he was a bit out of it, his wife just gave birth to a son on the 2nd October, so they are dealing with sleepless nights! nevertheless, he was a joy to see again! I've missed the folks at the market, and was so happy to see everyone and have many of them tell me they missed me...ahhhhhh nice eh! Sales and visitors were a bit on the slow side, but i didn't do to shabbily!

I think somehow yesterday's blip had some kind of effect here...it was warm and sunny, very much like a late summers' day...too bad i spent most of it indoors at the market then a couple of hours taking a nap (i didn't sleep well at all last night!). Maybe this will continue for a day or two!
