STINKY RETURNS

He’s back! I didn’t have to go far to get my blip this evening. This skunk evidently lives under our shed, and came to the back steps to check out the peanuts set out for the squirrels. Unfortunately it was nearly 9:00 pm, and the motion-sensor light didn’t provide enough lighting for a good picture. (Next time I hope to be better prepared.)

For those of you who don’t have skunks around, consider yourselves very fortunate. My springer spaniel was once sprayed by a skunk at such a close range that it was like gooey slime on her chest. We gave her several baths, including one in tomato juice (the common prescription for getting rid of skunk smell), but nothing worked. We had the windows open for weeks – and this was during a very cold February. Their smell is unbearable!
