Electra

Isn't she just stunning?! We went out tracking leopards again this morning. Although we actually spent about three hours looking for one of the large males in the area. We didn't find him but we did eventually come across Electra out for an early morning walk. She had hidden her cubs somewhere again (damn!) and seemed to be in the mood for hunting. She walked silently and steathily with her tail low - the tip of it twitching back and forth... sensing something she laid down low out of sight just in front of us, and before too long we saw a small herd of kudu approaching. We watching for quite some time as the unaware kudu browsed not more than 40 metres from her. Were we about to see a kill?!

.... No! Electra decided she wasn't in the mood and stood up, giving herself away.. then slowly sauntered off. Well, you should have heard the commotion the kudu made! Lots of barks and warning calls followed and they all started to follow her making sure they knew exactly where she was going. She didn't care and held her tail up high to let them know she wasn't hunting.

A good end to my stay with Africat :) Then, it was back in my little rental car to make the final part of the journey back to Windhoek. On the way I stopped to pick up some final souvenirs from the Okahandja markets, where I spent too much money!

Day 10 - Total distance travelled 2162kms!! My solo road trip around Namibia is complete and I feel very satisfied and accomplished with my efforts :)
