Old Face

Today, I was taking some photographs along the shore of Lake Minnetonka, a large near-city lake. The winds were gusty and the waters were choppy. A woman drove up, unloaded an old dog and walked into the rolling waters, where the dog struggled to stay above the waves. The dog, I discovered, is 13 years old, has a torn ACL that can't be operated on because of her age. The owner was hoping to get her some exercise, but the winds and water were too much. It was a sweet moment, but also heartbreakingly sad. It won't be long before that old dog won't be able to rise and romp and a difficult decision lay ahead. Life.
