Jollibee

Food in the Philippines lurches from the sublime (coconut tart) to the grotesque (cold limp fries at the nastiest of fast food places, Jollibee).

The latter was where we lunched today, and this is the mass ordering for 30 in action. My Indonesian colleague observed that the Filipino middle class flocks here as dining at Jollibee comes with feelings of a certain moneyed status. I wonder if it was the same in the UK when McDonalds opened?

The customer service in the Philippines is so incredibly earnest, that the girls behind the till could have been serving customers at the Ritz, not serving up overfried bits of cow's arsehole.
