Russell Square, London

Our plane to JFK was in the late afternoon, so we had plenty of time for one more cultural outing, and we headed for the British Museum.

It's near Russell Square--a large garden square (a small enclosed park), in the Bloomsbury section of London. I took this shot from outside, through a high fence, holding my camera as high as I could to get above the bushes at the edge. Edit: It shows a bit of the "puzzle bark" of a plane tree (close relative of our sycamores). They've been a recurrent theme of this journal, notably in the Camargue.

At the museum we took in part of its fabulous Egyptian collection, plus the Japanese installation--smaller but relatively recent and also excellent.

The flight back was uneventful, but we had a long wait for a taxi. A very long day--now to bed!
