Bertha

Today we were getting the Mackintosh Church ready for the return of the Glasgow School of Yarn.

We are delighted to host this knitting extravaganza on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October 2013. This annual event marks the third anniversary of the opening of The Yarn Cake, Glasgow's British Knitting Award nominated knitting café.

While they were getting setup this evening, this mannequin (called Bertha) caught my eye. I liked its shape and form against the beautiful artwork of Frances Law.

Friday and Saturday will see the Hall turned into a marketplace of independent vendors, including Old Maiden Aunt, HilltopCloud, The Yarn Yard, Abstract Cat, A Peppermint Penguin and and.sew.to.knit. The Yarn Cake stand will also be selling Drops yarns, local yarns including New Lanark and Jamieson & Smith, Ashford spinning wheels and supplies, along with a wide range of needles and notions.

Expert tutors including Amy Singer and Liz Lovick will be offering workshops including Fair Isle, Shetland Lace, silk spindling and lace design. Spinning and fibre expert Deb Robson will also be there introducing her new book, The Field Guide To Fleece.

And as usual there will be a delicious selection of cakes and biscuits expertly baked by organisers The Yarn Cake. So who needs the Great British Bake Off.

This is the third year we will play host to Scotland's premier Knitting event. It is expected that Knitters from across Scotland will gather in Glasgow for this special event.

Tickets for the event are available on the door.
