Wild Flowers

It's hard to believe that on a day a grey and dismal as today one can come across a bed of wild flowers as colourful as these.

These have really come into flower over the last month when everything else around is dead and decaying. There's a bed about 10 metres in length growing just away from Seafiled Pond near a small patch of woodland. Most of the year this area has been rather muddy and bare unlike the grassland all around it and then suddenly it has sprung into life with poppies, cornflowers and daisies.

And the irony is, of course, in today's dull overcast lighting it is so much easier to take a a decent photo of these colourful flowers as you are not having to contend with heavy contrast and blown highlights. They are for me a nice reminder of the joys of this summer !
