A tangled web

This may appear to be early Halloween decor in my backyard, and maybe it is, but I sure didn't put it there. My neighborhood spiders were hard at work while I was away, covering the house, the eaves, the bushes and trees with their delicate webs.

My Katsura tree was full of brilliant green leaves before I left on my trip two weeks ago. In that time, it has shed all but a few, and has now been bedecked by the spiders.

The bare limbs of this tree, along with the damp, chilly air is proof positive that I am back in the Pacific Northwest!

Eensy, weensy spiders.
