More than a little cross

Well this probably qualifies as most crap weekend in quite a while... After yesterday's illness-induced washout, today should have been good, with a trip to Callendar Park to watch the cyclocross. Except on the way home I got a call to let me know that our garage had been broken into again.

Mel had heard a noise and got to the window in time to spook three neds. Thankfully all inside was chained down, and the commuting bike is still at the office, so they left empty handed. Part of the evening was therefore spent putting extra bolts on the door, and mesh behind the windows. And wishing unmentionable violence upon the little gits responsible.

The police are little help, complaining again about the changes under the new unified force, and once more no fingerprints to be taken. 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, which the police themselves said was unusual. But they're getting more brazen, simply because they know they can get away with it. Apparently one of the reasons burglaries have gone up in the area is because it has been widely reported that the local stations are now closed, and so there aren't any police about. The last 6 months have seen something like a 56% increase in break-ins. What we do get are party political letters through the door from Kenny Macaskill about how we as communities can do more to help the police. Patronising and spin-ful nonsense that serves to do no more than stoke the fire of anger.
