Living Stones

A friend visited the Gardens of Helligan last week and brought us a plant each. I got a beautiful little Tea plant, a sort of camellia. And Mr HCB got this succulent, commonly known as Living Stones. I think it appealed to my friend because of its variety name "Cowboys' Bums", which tells you more about her sense of humour than her taste in plants :-)) It's a native of South Africa and is adapted to intense sunshine by having "windows" in its skin through which the light passes - they are the little dark spots you can see on the surface. It would be better off with plate glass windows in Wiltshire today as it has hardly come light :-((
