More wedding cups

This is another portion of the cups documented the past two days (thrown and trimmed out). The first two pictures are biscuit ware. They have been fired enough to dry them out and drive off the chemical water. They can't be turned back into mud at this point. They will be easy to glaze. This is a pretty standard way of glazing for the recent past. It isn't energy efficient and people are slowly going back to what is called "one fire" where the glaze is put on green clay. We still aren't moving to this at our studio since we have a mix of very new students thru experts and a kiln accident which is more likely with one fire can mess up a lot of other people's work. I suspect that eventually we will move to one fire, but it will be a massive change and require a lot of glaze reformulation.

The vertical photo are the same photos with glaze applied. They are ready to fire and will be loaded and fired in the next 2 or 3 days. I pulled two to fire at home in a glaze experiment tonight.

Today, I am grateful for the day I was given, peanut butter on toast. cool clean water and the paycheck that came today from the job I am lucky enough to have.
