Fright night

A busy day today, after a lazy evening last night. All the usual back to the house routine of washing, unpacking and sorting, along with reminding myself how to prepare food after a glorious 11 days away from that responsibility. There was also a new strimmer to buy and enough beef to feed a crowd on Saturday (though there will in fact only be four beef-eaters). Then of course there were the Hallowe'en preparations - the house to decorate (front door only, there are limits), sweeties to buy and Hallowe'en cakes to make. Thanks to some decorations sent over from London, they were quite a hit with the neighbours.

The kids were a zombie (CarbBoy) with ripped old clothes and liberal application of red acrylic paint, which will hopefully be washed off before school starts; and a mummy (TallGirl) with a couple of old sheets cut up and wrapped loosely around her (I was going for tightly but ran out of safety pins, so she was a bit of a messy mummy). She was quite taken with the luminous stick-on green nails I found. Though they were not luminous and, as you can see, stickability was limited.

TallGirl's pal C arrived for a sleepover and the three of them skipped out into the night to terrorise our neighbourhood. All callers to our door were introduced to the custom of working for your sweeties (and cakes) - so I now have a stock of French jokes. Full of sweeties the kids returned for an impromtu movie night. Soon, I'm told, I will have to shift myself to make chocolate sauce for ice cream.
