Fall in Big Rock Garden

I took this during a late afternoon walk with Helena in Big Rock Garden, a pocket park not far from where we live. The park was originally a private garden owned by George and Maryann Drake, neighbors of ours. The created the park for several reasons. One was to create jobs for physically and mentally challenged people. Second they wanted to create a nursery that specialized in rhododendrons and Japanese maples. And third they wanted to create a place where artists could show and sell their outdoor sculptures. They sold the park to the City of Bellingham about ten years ago. It is no longer a nursery but still has many wonderful plants and sculptures. I love walking in this park. Take a closer look at the fall colors.

Before our walk Helena and I went to the Palette Princess's Book Club. Neither of us had read the book but no matter. We all had a great time talking about all kinds of things and eating salads and other goodies. I brought fresh croissants. Sue made home-made tiramisu and it was fantastic. Today's meeting was at Eve's house and a former member, another Susan, showed up to everybody's delight. We had a great afternoon.
