Walking in Perthshire

Perthshire is probably my favourite county, it seems to me to have everything, lochs and glens and mountains..... and trees, most important. Perhaps it is because my granny came from Scone! Today was our club walk and we started just outside Crieff along the River Earn, a delight, towards Strowan, where my picture was taken. I was quite surprised at the wonderful autumn colours which are still hanging on, and it is delightful to walk through the fallen leaves.

We lunched at the 'Samson' stone, with wonderful views over the glen towards the distant hills. We then headed back on another path towards Dalvreck and finished at the Grouse Experience Distillery.

We had an hour or so in the pub at Crieff before heading home. Our weather was wonderful, sunny and still. It was fairly cold but you don't feel the cold when walking at all.

For those who are interested, when we got home our noses were assailed by a wonderful aroma from our Lamb Hotpot which had been cooking on low in our slow cooker all day. Within ten minutes the table was set, the wine poured, and we were eating our dinner. It tasted great. I think the slow cooker will prove to be a good buy. Thanks for all your comments on slow cooking yesterday.
