Mother and daughter go into business

Some friends told me about the Hideaway café, the latest eatery, in Bridge-of-Allan and today I decided to visit it after my yoga class.

At a time when more and more trendy bistros are opening this one is a refreshing change. It’s a down- to earth teashop, offering good wholesome cooking, family orientated with free newspapers and a genuine friendly atmosphere.

Run by mother and daughter Jan and Elena Menichetti (yes the same Italian family who own the Bologna restaurant) it opened seven weeks ago and literally “ hit the round running”, despite its location, tucked up an alleyway behind the Strathcarron hospice shop, and with no publicity except on Facebook.

I can see why. It offers excellent value for money. What’s more you can use Tesco’s car park!
