Veterans Day Wreaths

Wreaths at the Field of Stars, the inscription says "Here we mark the price of freedom", 4000 stars to commemorate the more than 400.000 Americans who died in that war. We will not forget them !

We just had to go back to the veterans memorials today and it was great to see all the respect the veterans were getting there. There are very few veterans of WWII still alive , but there were at least two still living WW II American veterans there. We also passed the statues of the nurses in the Vietnam war and heard a veteran nurse talk about her experiences. Everywhere across the National Mall were places where veterans were telling their story, either privately or in front of an audience.

Today's Colour Challenge is violet, which is a purple going to blue. With a bit of creative liberty the ribbon on the wreath at the very right might be seen as violet blue.

Today was again a beautiful and mild day, but bracing ourselves for a very cold day tomorrow ! It's going to freeze apparently !

And if you want to see what else we saw, including " Killroy was here" my Washington album is here
