Leap!

MK to Oxford today, via Sandy in Bedfordshire. This was not the most direct route! We had all day to travel about 30 miles, so decided to get along to the headquarters of the RSPB for a wander.
A very nice reserve, loads of oaks, beeches and sweet chestnuts all in their autumnal splendour.
I caught a glimpse of a Green Woodpecker, but it zoomed off before I could bring the lens to bear...
Nice to see this jay (Garrulus glandarius), the prettiest of the crows, as we don't have many in Scotland. He was enjoying the acorn feast, this year...
