Sign writers can work with the roughest of walls

Today I watched men skilled in their art - one was carving an elephant out of stone and holding it against a piece of wood with this foot to steady it as he used a hammer and chisel. I have been watching a carpenter for several days for he is making all the window and door frames for a new hotel. Today he was making the mortise and tenon joint for an arched window frame. The other man was carving a small Ganesh - the Hindu Elephant God - I saw him blocking it out a couple of days ago and now he is already working on the fine detail. Kingfisher appears to be a brand name not only for the beer that has 36% of the market but a monopoly of bottled water sold in Kerala. It used to have a terrific airline too - employees would wait outside the airport and one would escort each passenger through baggage handling right through to boarding the aircraft - but that part of the business ran into financial difficulties and is no more. I just love the way sign writers can look at a rough wall like this and still make the writing look as if it is on a flat one.
