At Home: Apple Tree tickling. X

If your tree wont let go of her fruit, give her a tickle!

Determined to get a barrow full of apples for the horses. Sam climbed up on the chicken houses to get a little closer to the fruit. Armed with a rake to give extra reach he managed to shake a few more of her branches.

The chickens have been enjoying the windfall so far. The children run a spade through the fallen apples so that the chickens can peck at the soften pulp. Our chickens enjoy cider vinegar in their water, it is a natural medicine that keeps mites, viruses and digestive problems at bay. I am guessing eating apples works the same.

The horses got their fill too. Jack our little cob is used to raiding the this apple tree. He has worked out how to scratch his bottom against the tree to get a few more apples down. Today Sam did all the fruit collecting, and fed lots of grateful mouths ...x
