After the photoshopping efforts of the last few days it's nice to be posting something where the only photoshop tool I used was the crop tool.

Mixed bag of a day today. Reported stolen a 250-300kg piece of concrete furniture designed by one of our graduates (and donated to us) from outside the front of our design school. The campus cop showed good humour by asserting that "it was obviously a one man job" - try six, and a ute.

Then we got notice that our department could be closed down due to it not making enough profit - the good and the bad news is it could take up to two years for us to find out for sure. It's more than likely that we can do what we need to please the bean-counters but it did seem like yet another thing to distract us from what I thought we were here to do - produce fantastic, responsible designers. I'll get over myself and get on with it eventually.

Had a another great conversation about doing my masters, this time with Daniel and we ended up agreeing to swap some prints which blows my mind because Daniel's photography is incredibly beautiful.

Then, later this evening there was a knock on the door from Joel Broad - the designer of the wayward concrete furniture. He had come around to drop off a canvas he has painted before moving to Melbourne in the morning.

[If any reading this is from a design firm in Melbourne then HIRE JOEL - he is a brilliant all-round designer who can work from product through to communication and like so many grads all he needs is an opportunity]

So I have great new art on the wall, new art soon to be on the wall, and uncertain job future (perhaps that should be rephrased to 'a more obviously, less likely to kid myself, uncertain job future'?), and a hunt for a quarter ton table underway.

And I'll be in bed before ten.

:]
