Another bit of history

The remains of `The Turret Gateway`. According to records of expenditure on the castle, it was built in 1423 and was badly damage during an election riot in 1832.
It would have had a portcullis, the signs of which can be seen on the inside of the archway.
The beautiful stained glass window is inside St. Mary de Castro church. Went inside at lunchtime and it`s truly stunning inside. Sat for a while listening to `Gregorian Chant` being played over the loudspeakers...very enigmatic
