What a lovely weekend! There's nothing like a bit of unexpected sunshine to make you feel cheery and the last two days haven't let us down.

The weather led all the neighbours to tinker about in adjoining gardens; the efforts mean no more wading through a knee-deep lawn.

Scrubbed up and popped along to wealthy Grange for an oaty biscuit and coffee. The light was great so was able to enjoy the various garden sculptures looking their best. It's so posh at my friend's abode that even the garden shed has a finial. An architectural finial was once believed to act as a deterrent to witches on broomsticks attempting to land on the roof.

No Hallowe'en parties at this house then.
