I used to be very dismissive about craft fairs (or fayres as they have a tendency to be called) but my views have changed recently prompted as usual by Susan. She pointed out that these are skilled craftspeople who created lovely items, often using local materials or local foods.

Isn't it better to give or receive a gift made by someone who has taken the trouble to create something unique that you can't buy in John Lewis or off Amazon?

Mind you, there is a difference between a craft fayre and a gift fayre as in the latter the gifts in question could still have been made in China and brought to this country in a container.

Talked to Chris in San Diego this evening via FaceTime on the iPhone. We take this technology for granted nowadays but just stop to think what is happening - video and sound 7000 miles there and back and no time lag. Unbelievable or what?
