Surprisingly similar angles

Remember, remember,
the fifth of November,
gunpowder treason and plot
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot

Okay, so it is the second of November, not the fifth, but tonight was fireworks so I feel like it must be at least a little bit representative of this historical occasion! After a traumatic time in town, with way too many things to get done and Thom going over on his ankle (meaning me being lumbered with a limping man walking home! The only problem being that, although being two or so inches over average height, I’m still too small to be an effective crutch for my hop-along boyfriend!)…we then decided the best thing for all would be to go to a massive firework display a forty minute walk or so away from Thom’s house. We got past the ankle problem with strapping, painkillers and Thom freewheeling his bike to get there while I walked. And it worked! Such a lovely evening, with so much going on. So glad we managed to make our way out. Highlights of the evening:-
- Being desperately middle class and complaining about a rapper who was performing (well, there were children present!
- Thom being continuously being attacked by a tree in the strong winds (hilarious, honestly!)
- Other people being attacked by the same tree once we moved to a safer place
- Running into Thom’s seven year old cousin Quinn and his mum
- Taking the mick out of the “headline” band that was playing – One Direction wannabes is probably the best description
- Being given Thom’s massive gloves because my hands were too cold and looking very much like a child wearing their parents’ clothes!
- The fireworks
- Running into a few of Thom’s friends and teammates
- Pizza and Hog Roast

Well worth the effort to go!
