Got a new motor, Rog?

Well no actually. Much as I'd love to say our rather tired Freelander had gone it was not to be. David needed his two 911s moving to safe storage in Exeter and so I was carded to drive this one. The other is just visible top right.
Great to start on a really narrow Devon lane with solid walls on either side competing against all sorts of beaten up pick-up trucks and assorted other 4x4s. Pleased to say however that we managed to get both safely into their winter stables.
A couple of hours then spent in Exeter. Impressed with the city museum - one of those eclectic collections with a Victorian feel - it is named after the uber-Victorian Prince Albert after all - that makes no apologies for its nature. Indeed it revels in the juxtaposition of a stuffed elephant and a carved Japanese cereal grain.
Rather a sad cabinet with a stuffed Eskimo Curlew, Passenger Pigeon, Huia, Hazelhen and Ivory-billed Woodpecker - all now extinct in the main as a consequence of their collectability as they became increasingly rare.
Best item? A wooden statue from about 500 BC that reminded me of some of the items in the British Museum Ice Age exhibition of earlier in this year.
Combine this with a half decent Lamb and Chorizo pie in their restaurant and we'll be back.
