At Home: logs fires and friends....x

We spent the day moving Plum wood logs. Our house runs pretty much on a large wood fired stove and an open fire. So when a local orchard fells its old and diseased stock, we are pretty quick to jump to.

Its not bad wood to burn. We mix the Ash from wood yard with it, a good combination of hot dried Ash logs and slower burning plum logs. One warms the other up and the other moisture slows the other down.

We need more logs than most to get through winter. Stock piling wood. Storing it, squirrelling it away. There are plenty of plum logs to split with the axe tomorrow. They say that wood can warm you three times over. The first when you get warm splitting it with the axe, the second when you stack it, and then when you burn it.

Tiger the cat and Sam are quick to lay out and absorb the heat. Its good to feel the cold. It makes the heat so much more rewarding....x
